The stone pulsed with a heartbeat not its own, whispering promises of strength against the cold wind. As his fingers tightened, shadows lengthened unnaturally around him, and his eyes shifted from human brown to demonic red. He had sought power, but the shard demanded a price he could no longer pay.

The Shikon no Tama was forged centuries before the Sengoku period by a powerful human priestess seeking to control wild spiritual forces. Passed down through the Higurashi shrine lineage, it served as a vessel for immense power capable of granting wishes or destroying enemies. When the jewel fractured into hundreds of glowing fragments, its energy became volatile and scattered across Japan. These shards act as conduits for raw demonic energy. While they can heal wounds or grant strength, prolonged exposure often twists desire into obsession. Demons seek them to evolve their forms, while humans risk losing their souls to greed. The corruption is not inherent to the stone itself but amplifies existing negative emotions within the holder.
